Selu, also known as Selû or Corn Mother, is a Cherokee goddess of corn, fertility, and agriculture. She is a central figure in Cherokee mythology, symbolizing sustenance, growth, and the cycle of life. Selu is revered as the giver of corn, a staple food that sustains the Cherokee people and plays a vital role in their cultural and spiritual practices. She is often depicted as a kind and generous deity who teaches the importance of nurturing the land, practicing gratitude, and honoring the interconnectedness between humanity and the natural world. Selu embodies the concept of abundance, providing nourishment while also representing the wisdom of cultivating crops and the significance of preserving traditional knowledge and customs.
