I was planning on spending time in the Cascades, but the continual smoky skies inland pushed me to the coast. Behold this scene during a sunrise photo shoot. As day breaks over the vast expanse of the Willapa Bay Wildlife Refuge in Washington, an intense sunrise paints the sky in vivid hues, casting a mesmerizing glow upon the tranquil bay waters. This sunrise is unique, as its radiance is tempered by a distant veil of smoke, adding an element of mystery and intensity to the scene. The sun’s rays wrestle with the smoky particles, transforming the sky into a canvas of vibrant oranges, fiery reds, and intense yellows. The reflection of this dramatic display dances upon the calm bay, creating a surreal and ethereal ambiance.
